History

In 1943, Elra Buck began to work the land on his potato farm in West Chapman, Maine. He grew white and russet potatoes for seed and tablestock markets on about 80 acres. He shipped them south to markets from his trackside potato house. Starting in 1975 his grandson Glendon helped out every chance he could.  After briefly moving away at the end of high school, he returned to the County. And in 1983 he had come back to the farm full time. From then on Glen and his wife Anne started to market and pack potatoes directly to retailers and food service companies. And Green Meadow Farms was born. Direct service to the customers was what they built the company around, personally packing and delivering to any size customer around the state.

Now, 80 years and three generations later, we continue that tradition on the same land plus much more. In 2017 Green Meadow Farms incorporated and today, Glendon and his sons Isaac and Ethan operate the business together. Growing over 400 acres in central Aroostook county. Marketing, packing and distributing quality produce throughout Maine and beyond.
